We Don't Need No Education

Education vs. Jobs... Which one to opt for?

I can just feel the young brigade of our country humming these famous lines by Pink Floyd, which made us go crazy like anything not a very long time back:

"We don't need no education,
We don't need no thought control...
No dark sarcasm in the class room...
Teachers leave those kids alone!
Hey, teachers! Leave those kids alone!

All in all, it's just A-Nother brick in the wall...
All in all, you're just A-Nother brick in the wall..."

I hate to agree that this is a very broad, intellectual and one helluva boring topic to be writing blogs about. But in an emerging country like ours', one doesn't need to understand Robot Science to draw a conclusion on our pathetic education system. Nowadays, a kid has to first say A for Android before he gets to utter M for Maa, the very essence of his life. Play schools, Activity Paathshaalas and what not. By the time he moves up to the ranks of a standard 1 kid in a primary school he has all the irrelevant news that one could ever imagine his/her kid to possess. But that's the way the cookie crumbles I guess. Remember Bruce Nolan from Eyewitness news?

The song which I started off with has a few more interesting lines:
"If you don’t eat your meat you can’t have any pudding
How can you have any pudding if you don’t eat your meat?"

Well that's not a mandate anymore. If you feel like having your deserts even before you have tasted the main course, they won't call you uneducated, rather you will be termed as an adventurer, an explorer even. What,,, you need an example, don't you? Just check at the increasing pregnancy rates of girls below 18, you'll know. The fact of the matter is that nowadays no one follows the norms. The primary motive of education in today's world is to get a highly paid job. Today we follow the career path; we do not believe in an education path. Haven't you guys seen 3 idiots where that jack-ass with whom Kareena was supposed to get married, did a B.Tech first, then went for his MBA and finally got a job at an international bank. WTF...

We all might enjoyed the comical aspect of the scene failing to realize that whatever was shown in the movie has become the dreaded fact of our life... the motto of our existence... Who gives a damn to learning? Who cares about knowledge? All that we do care about is to get that eternal job which will as if free us from all our sins.

By sharing this blog with you, I don't intend to change the world or cause a stir within you, which eventually makes you question your own existence. Nope ... I am in no way Ranchhoddas Shaimakdas Chhachhar...

It's just that probably I am cursing myself for being a part of this meaningless race to achieve the so called status quo; a race which cannot yield winners; a race which gives us no real satisfaction, but off course a bank balance full of green dollars. That is why the entire world today is crazy about the Go Green Campaign. This tiff among Education and Job is quite similar to who came first, the egg or the chicken? For the time being it’s quite evident that the Chicken is leading the show.
